An incredible in-depth Chinese gilt wood carving of two bearded uniformed warriors depicted with spears in their hands, riding on galloping horses between pine trees, and with an attendant running at their side. This ornate sculpture has been finely carved on all four sides, and looks as good from the back as it does from the front. The artist has captured the motion of the horses and the fierceness of the warriors as they pursue their enemy. The pine trees and fauna are also beautifully carved and add to the realism of the scene. The entire carving is mounted on rose wood painted stand. This carving has been secured in an enclosed display cabinet since being acquired in 1976.
