| Beautiful Wei Dynasty Painted Tomb Pottery Horse With Rider Period: Wei Dynasty, China, AD 386 to 557. Size: This beautiful statue is approximately 11.4" high. Condition: Color fading, abrasions, small chips and/or minor deterioration with possible areas of expert restoration is not unusual in burial pieces of this age. Description: This is a wonderful example of a painted piece of Wei tomb pottery. The horse and rider are still very detailed. They are both beautifully carved and painted. There is still a great deal of original pigment still remaining. The rider appears to be wearing a robe and his features are well-defined. The rider also has a hat on his head. The horse appears to be wearing a blanket of some sort and a mask on his face.The horse and rider are both covered in a beautiful red pigment. Buyer may request this item TL tested (thermo luminescence) by Oxford Authentication in England for an additional fee of $450.00 for items in our China distribution point.
