A Ridgway Bute Shape Cup and Saucer, c.1810

Bone china. White ground. Both pieces decorated with hand-painted designs after Bewick of a Bullfinch and a Linnet. Both painted in shades of grey against orange landscapes. The cup stands 2 1/4 inches high and measures 3 1/4 inches in diameter, excluding the handle. The saucer measures 5 1/4 inches across. The base of the cup bears the hand-written name, Bullfinch and the saucer, Linnet, both in black. Both pieces are in very good, original, sound condition with little or no wear to the decoration.
