A Lacquerware Vase by Maruni, Occupied Japan 1940's

Molded with a fluted form and glazed with a beautiful oxblood ground and organic hand lacquered leaves, flowers and branches depicted on all sides. The over-all colors used are varying shades of green, metallic gold, and just a touch of sky blue in a few of the flowers. What stands out the most is the shimmer of the gold lacquer on top of the deep red background. Beautiful! The verso reads “Maruni Patent Made in Occupied Japan” with a circle and two bars painted over the circle.

Size: 12” tall, 4 ¼” diameter at the base, 8 ½” diameter at the top

Condition: Perfect with the exception of a deep scratch on the inside of the vase.

Price $95.00
