A beautiful and very distinctive vintage mid-century modern sterling necklace with a fabulous matte finish egg shaped turquoise stone. 1960s. Marked only with the Mexican eagle #23 silver assay mark, which was assigned to Bernice Goodspeed, Gerardo Lopez, Popowski, and a few other makers identified by initials. The neckring holds a sliding drop from which is suspended a concave silver piece which echoes the egg shape of the turquoise stone. The stone is lusciously beautiful, with a soft powdery color and texture. The neckring has a handmade chain on each side and a hook closure. An outstanding and super wearable piece. The neckring is 15 1/2 inches clasped. The drop is 6 inches long total and the pendant is 1 3/8 inches wide. Excellent condition. There is a tiny area of open matrix on the upper left corner of the stone; it is covered by the prong in that spot, and is naturally occurring and not a crack or damage. Photos enlarged to show detail. |
