|Offered is a mid-century modern glazed stoneware bowl by legendary Hungarian-born American studio potter Eugene Deutch (Deutsch). The bowl is 11 1/8" long x 9 1/2" wide x 5" tall. It is signed and dated and in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. There is, however, a spot near the bottom of the bowl where Deutch's grinding wheel scuffed the glaze. Deutch was a European immigrant, who brought to American ceramics an understanding of European modernism. He was a student of Brancusi while studying in France and taught for many years at the Art Institute of Chicago. He first exhibited at the Syracuse Nationals in 1937.|
