Offered is a vintage .950 Silver hinged collar necklace was made by Ignacio Gomez during the 1990’s for Talleres de los Ballesteros in Taxco, Mexico. The necklace, which features a highly detailed Morelet crocodile with Malachite eyes, makes a bold modernist statement. The Morelet crocodile or Alligator Mexicano is named after the French naturalist Pierre Morelet (1809-1892), who discovered it in Mexico in 1850. The necklace measures 19” in length on the outside, 16” on the inside and weighs 5.4 ounces. It is in excellent vintage condition and is signed and marked as shown in the last photo.
