Offered is an original Serigraph by Almir Mavignier, “Convex”. The print which was published in 1971 by Denise Rene / Hans Mayer (Dusseldorf) is 25” x 19 ¼” and in excellent original condition. It is signed, numbered (100/170) and dated and has been recently archivally matted and shrink wrapped to protect the piece. Almir da Silva Mavignier was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1925. He left for Germany and studied at the Hochschule für Gestalt Ung in Ulm Germany between 1953 and 1958. In the mid-to late 1950s, Mavignier began to produce geometrically driven paintings which used color and form to create a surface which optically vibrated. The works would later give way to a series of works which he called "permutations" or "deformed squares." During the 1960’s his work was presented at the Venice Biennale and at Documenta 3 and 4 (1964 and 1968) and he was appointed as professor of painting at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg, where he lives and works today.
