Modern Japanese Kyo-yaki Bottle Form Vase, Kawano Eichi
Iris leaves spring into the dark iron sides of this vase by Kawano Eichi (b. 1943) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The vase is 11 inches (28 cm) tall, 2 x 9 inches (5 x 22 cm) diameter and in excellent condition.
Born in Osaka, Eichi apprenticed under the 6th Kiyomizu Rokubei in Kyoto. He has displayed often at the Nitten National Exhibition as well as with the National New Crafts Exhibition (Nihon Shin Kogei Ten). He was awarded the Kyoto City Governors Prize, and served as a professor at the Kyoto Municipal University of Art.
