Superb Ryuun Vase by Yasuda Zenko
Rich red underscores the feldspathic glaze running wispy tendrils across this vase in a style the artist calls Flowing Clouds by important avant-garde Yasuda Zenko. The pot is 8 inches (20.5 cm) tall 10 x 4-1/2 inches (25 x 11.5 cm) and in overall fine condition.
Yasuda Zenko (Tomohiko) B. 1926, Studied under Kiyomizu Rokubei VI. First displayed nationally at the Nitten in 1950. He was awarded the prestigious Japan Ceramic Society award in 1958, and was subsequently collected by the Metropolitan Museum of New York, 1963. Awarded at the Nitten, 1964, followed by the National Modern Crafts Exhibition 1967 and collected by Japanese Government, 1971 (Gaimusho).
