Kakehana Hanging Wall-vase by Hiraga Taeko B
Sold, Thank you!

A Ginsai (Silver-glazed) vessel by Hiraga Taeko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kawara Mon Kakehana (Hanging Vase patterned with roof tiles). The unusual shape compounded with the advancing decoration of silver is both eye-catching and disconcerting. It measures 10 x 5 x 25 cm (4 x 2 x 10 inches) and is in fine condition, with a metal ring on back for hanging.
Hiraga Taeko was born in Aichi prefecture in 1948, a pioneering female artist who has served as mentor to a young generation of artists from her kiln in Kawasaki city, Kanagawa near Tokyo. She has been displayed at the Nihon Togei-Ten (National Ceramics Exhibition) and Nihon Dento Kogei-ten (National Traditional Crafts Exhibition) and prized at the Asahi Togei-Ten Ceramics Exhibition 1988. She has also been awarded Kyoto Mayors prize and Governors prize at the Joryu Togei-Ten (Female Artist Exhibition 1983 and 1989) as well as the Nihon Shin Kogei-Ten Prize (New Craft Exhibition 1989) among many others. In 1995 and 1996 she was awarded at the Bonsai-no-Utsuwa-Ten Exhibition of Bonsai Pots.
