Hibino Katsuhiko was born in Gifu in 1958, and pent much of his childhood hospitalized with illness. He graduated the National University of Art in Tokyo and did his advanced studies there. He has taken a very public approach to art, working to create art in front of audiences, or with the participation of the general public. He works in any number of media and is not limited by genre, and in fact even worked as a soccer announcer in 1994 for the National Broadcasting Network. He was awarded in graphic design at the National Graphic Design Exhibition in 1982 before even finishing his university studies, and has since added a number of awards, including the ADC award and Mainichi Design Award to his collection.
