Tamba Footed Dish by Ogami Noboru
A large footed Aka-dobe dish by Tamba artist Noboru Ogami (b 1929) in the original signed wooden box with accompanying catalog Shokiten in which the piece was published. The deep dish is covered in dark brick colored glaze, the slightly warped rim curving in to a column cut through with triangle shapes resting on wide foot. It measures 13-1/2 inches (34 cm) in diameter, stands 7 inches (18 cm) to the rim and dates to about 1980. Ogami has received numerous awards in local and National Exhibitions including the prestigious Nitten and the Nihon Dento Kogei Ten National Exhibitions. His works have been purchased by the Office of foreign affairs as gifts to diplomats. For more on this artist see the article published in the 4th Daruma magazine (1994), pgs 31-38.
