| A mysterious mottle of color drifts like smoke around the surface of this Bizen Tsubo shaded with clouds of natural pale green ash by Hibata Koken enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is roughly 14 inches (35.5 cm) diameter, 13 inches (33 cm) tall and in fine condition. It is a hefty piece weighing in at about 12 kilograms including the box. Koken (b. 1921) has been displayed on a National level at the Nihon Dento Kogei Ten (Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition), Nihon Togei Ten (Japan National Ceramics Exhibition), as well as any number of local and private exhibitions. His work has also been purchased by the Imperial Household Agency. | ||||||||||||
