A white carp floats effortlessly, ghost-like on the limpid green surface of this large receptacle covered in pale green by Yonezawa Hisashi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The Vase is 10-1/2 inches (26.5 cm) diameter, 8-1/2 inches (21.5 cm) tall and in fine condition and weighs five kilograms. Hisashi (b. 1931) was schooled as a painter at the Kyoto University of Art (Tech) before studying under both his own father (Yonezawa Soho) and Kusube Yaichi. He has been exhibited nationally at the Nitten, and prized at Gendai Kogei Ten (modern Crafts Exhibition), as well as the prestigious Kofukai Exhibition and is best known for his research and development of celadon porcelain.
