Contemporary Celadon Basin by Uno Toru
A deep flower basin with wide flange rim by sculptural potter Uno Minoru enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The unusual form is covered in a smooth, pale green, cool and soothing. Our flower arranger saw the receptacle and immediately exclaimed ‘this is the perfect basin for arranging flowers’. It is 12-1/2 inches (31.5 cm) square, roughly 3 inches (7.5 cm) tall and in perfect condition. Toru (b. 1935) studied with Kano Mitsuo and Kusube Yaichi before establishing his own kiln in 1961. He has been displayed and prized at the Nitten National Exhibition, Nihon Shin-Kogei Ten (National New Crafts Exhibition), Gendai Kogei Ten (Modern Crafts Exhibition), and Kyo-Ten (Kyoto Art Exhibition) among many others.
