Renderings depict a single Inuit Eskimo Arctic fur sealskin with cut out applique silhouette-like inuit folklore figure images also made of fur hand-sewn into the main rug or used as a wallhanging. All attached (hand-sewn) to seal hide and also all hand sewing is done with hide lace thread. Has the hanging loops made of hide as well, 34" x 55" (2 ft. 10 inches x 4 ft 7") 1950's/1960's. Absolutely authentic and original; however, it is unsigned. The inlaid pieces of fur flow beautifully together with no detection of hand sewing except on the underside. Condition: Excellent (hanging loops are torn but can easily be repaired). This is a highly unusual and rare art form. This piece is in amazing condition, clean and extremely well hand crafted and preserved. MUSEUM QUALITY! Please feel free to ask any questions or to obtain more photos. Various countries do not accept the importation of seal products; therefore, please check with your country's laws. |
