| Beautiful example of Dino Martens “Oriente” Series which he designed for Aureliano Toso in the early 1950’s. He was the companies artistic director from 1949 to 1960 and he innovated traditional designs by creating works in asymmetrical shape and compositions of aventurina and polychrome glass. Authentic, marked pieces are extremely difficult to find as they were marked by the factory with foil labels which can detach over time. The ashtray listed still carries a partial Aureliano Toso label and it shows good age wear on the base which is consistent with age. Measurements are 5.75” X 5.5” across opening and 2” – 2.5” rim height. The glass is in excellent condition, without any signs of damage or repair and there are no deep scratches or scuff marks. The only evidence of age is found in the base and when held against the light the inside exposes slight surface scratch marks which can not be detected by touch. There is no indication the glass dish has ever been used as an ashtray. Feel free to contact me with questions or for additional photos.
