| Elegant bulb shaped, Italian Murano Glass vase manufactured by Barovier & Toso in the mid 1950’s. The ribbed texture and rope like gilding is called “Cordonato D’ Oro” and the technique was first exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1950. Reference on the design can be found in many Italian Glass publications, such as Marina Baroviers book “The Art of the Barovier Glassmakers “ and Leslie Pinas book “Century20”. This vase is executed in rare deep amethyst color. Measurements are 7.5” (19 cm) height and 15” (38 cm) circumference at the widest point. The glass is in pristine condition, without damage, repair or signs of use and the base displays only moderate signs of table wear. There are a few scattered bubbled and three to four tiny ash inclusions within the glass, which do not influence the display but confirm the early manufacturing date. Feel free to contact me with questions or for additional photos. Domestic shipping, handling and insurance are $25. International buyers are welcome and postage will be calculated upon request in advance. | ||
