| Mid-Century, Italian Murano Glass Biomorphic Geode Bowl in rare black color and white polka dot pattern designed and manufactured by Alfredo Barbini. Compared to other bowls that I have come across, this model is the most substantial with rim thickness of 1.25” (3 cm). Also, the polka dots are larger than usually seen and they add extra interest to the design. There are profuse gold fleck inclusions on the inside layer which almost hide the black glass layer underneath completely. Measurements are 6.5” (16.5 cm) diameter across opening and 2.5” (6 cm) rim at the highest point. The glass is in excellent condition, without damage or obvious signs of age wear. The only irregularity I can detect are two needlepoint indentation on the outside which are only visible when the bowl is turned upside down and there is age appropriate table wear on the polished base.
