This Ca. 1850 hand Painted Rose Medallion covered vegetable dish is decorated in the traditional poly-chrome Rose Medallion Figural, Bird, Butterfly and Floral pattern. The Cover is decorated with four alternating panels: two with figures in a court yard and two with birds, flowers and fruit. There are two hand paints gold rings with birds and flowers in the center and three very detailed yellow and white butterflies’ separating the panels on the long side of the cover all topped off with a gold acorn finial. The outside of the dish is also decorated with four alternating panels the two panels on the long side of the dish are of people in a court yard sharing tea and the side panels are of beautifully painted Birds, Flowers, and Pomegranates. The interior of the bowl is decorated with flowers and fruit on a white ground. This fantastic covered dish measures8-1/2” long by 7-1/4” wide and 4-1/2” to the top of the finial. This antique covered dish is excellent with No Chips, Cracks or Hairlines with very minor loss to gilding on the finial.
