| This highly collectible, museum-quality "Harvey Thunderbird" Navajo spoon is exquisite in every detail. The use of some type of design on the opposite sides of the chest circles, squares, even swastikas, which circa 1900 were considered good luck symbols -- defined Harvey T'birds from other bird and thunderbirds stamps, when it was copyrighted by the Harvey Co. as their symbol in 1909. And, that date of 1909 assists with the dating of this spoon. For more information, check out Cindra Kline's award winning book, "Navajo Spoons, Indian Artistry and the Souvenir Trade 1880s - 1940s " published by the Museum of New Mexico Press. I do have a signed copy of her book for sale at Trocadero stock # 305 under collectibles. Dimensions are: tip of handle to tip of bowl: 2 7/8 inches; bowl is 5/8 inches in diameter. Weight of spoon 0.20 oz. or 5 grams. | ||
