| Rare Apple Blossom Festival Pow Wow poster 1989 San Juan College, Farmington New Mexico by Navajo artist Ryan Hosteen. Ryan Hosteen, Navajo, was Indian Club president of San Juan College in 1989. The poster was an annual part of the activity, the Pow wow. They needed funding for college annual Pow wow activity. The funding was to pay the participants and as door prize, for dancers, as prize money and purchase prize for little children dancer winners. The Anheuser-Busch Premier Distributing Company paid for the poster-making portion. They needed an artist, and Ryan Hosteen was selected from the poster committee to do an artwork. The drawing idea came from various Pow wow photos combined as one. The media he used were soft pastel and pastel pencils. He is self-taught. Ryan Hosteen enjoys creating illustrations for “Leading the Way”, using pen, ink, and pencil and color pencils. The poster is signed by the artist and is no. 11 of 150. Frame is 21 1/4 inch wide and 25-¼ inch in height. Size of poster showing is 18 inch wide and 22-½ inch in height. | ||
