European School, "Portrait of a Young Boy". This is a remarkable portrait painted in oil on cradled board, measuring 15 1/2 x 11 5/8 inches. This painting bears the faint signature and date "J. B. Greuze 1776" leading us to believe it may be painted by the French master Jean Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805), although we have been unable to authenticate it. Because of this we are listing it as "European School", but it really is quite well painted and in the very distinct style of Greuze.
