Ronau William Woiceske, American, 1887-1953, "Evening Glow," Oil on canvas, 24 x 30 inches, 1944, signed l.r, in the original frame, with label. Woiceske was born in Bloomington Illinois and studied art with Birge Harrison and John Carlson. He became quite well known for his etchings and paintings of snow covered landscapes. Woiceske was a member of the Philadelphia Print Club, the National Association of Etchers, and the Woodstock Artist's Association.

Weber grew up in Columbia, SC but was educated in Germany where he graduated in Berlin in 1903. His artistic education began in Paris at the Ecole National des Beaux Arts and the Julian Academy. William Preston Phelps, American, 1849-1923, "springtime, Chesham, NH," oil on canvas, 18 x 24 inches, c. 1890, signed "WP Phelps", in a period gilt frame. Phelps was known as the "Painter of Monadnock." He lived most of his life in Dublin, NH, with the exception of several years he spent studying art in Europe. He painted many scenes of the area landscape of farms, fields and forests, most of which set against the backdrop of the majestic Mount Monadnock.

Samuel Lancaster Gerry, American, 1813-1891, "Lake in the Mountains," oil on canvas, 20 x 30 inches, c. 1875, signed "SL Gerry," l.l, in what appears to be the original gilt frame. Samuel Gerry was a self-taught artist known for his majestic mountain landscapes, especially of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Although he didn't have much formal training, he was greatly influenced by the work of Thomas Cole and A. B Durand, as well as some artists of the European schools...

Paul Saling, American, 1876-1936, "Meadow in Bloom," Oil on artist board, 12 x 16 inches, unsigned, c. 1930, unsigned. Born in Germany, Saling emigrated to America through Ellis Island in 1893 at the age of 17. He was a successful decorator and artist first in New York City, then in Hartford, Connecticut. In the late 1920s, he moved to Lyme, Connecticut, the setting for many of his landscapes...

Max Weyl, German-American, 1837 - 1914, "Autumn in Virginia," oil on canvas, image size 21 x 26 1/2 inches, ornate period gilt frame, signed l.l. "Max Weyl". Born in Germany but brought to the US as a child, Weyl became one of the most popular landscape painters of the Washington D.C. area. In 1879 he traveled to Europe and was greatly influenced by the Barbizon style and for the next two decades his landscapes of the D.C. area won him renown.

Frederick S. Batcheller, American, 1837-1889, "The Barnyard Chicken", Oil on board, image size 5 x 7 1/4 inches, c. 1860s, signed, in original frame. Batcheller was a well-known artist in Providence, RI in the late 19th century, specializing in still life paintings. He was also one of the founding members along with Charles Walter Stetson, George William Whitaker, and Edward M. Bannister of the Providence Art Club.
