19th Century French School, '"L'optique" Peep Show,' A rare early French genre painting depicting a traveling vendor with his peep show. A unique country setting of a mother and her children viewing a display titled "Le Vrai Jesus". This work done circa 1820's is unsigned but suggests the work in style and subject of Louis Leopold Boilly,(1761-1845). William Preston Phelps, American, 1849-1923, "springtime, Chesham, NH," oil on canvas, 18 x 24 inches, c. 1890, signed "WP Phelps", in a period gilt frame. Phelps was known as the "Painter of Monadnock." He lived most of his life in Dublin, NH, with the exception of several years he spent studying art in Europe. He painted many scenes of the area landscape of farms, fields and forests, most of which set against the backdrop of the majestic Mount Monadnock.

Max Weyl, German-American, 1837 - 1914, "Autumn in Virginia," oil on canvas, image size 21 x 26 1/2 inches, ornate period gilt frame, signed l.l. "Max Weyl". Born in Germany but brought to the US as a child, Weyl became one of the most popular landscape painters of the Washington D.C. area. In 1879 he traveled to Europe and was greatly influenced by the Barbizon style and for the next two decades his landscapes of the D.C. area won him renown.
