In the 1920s Lucioni rented an apartment on Washington Square in New York City. This is one of the very rare images that he created of New York, quite possibly the view from his apartment window.

This print is part of the collection of The National Galleries Scotland, which describes this image as a great example of Royds' "ability to capture a scene in such a simple yet distinct manner. The strong black lines of the woodcut work well in describing the profiles of the young boys singing in the foreground."
