"John Sloan" and pencil titled with an alternate title in the artists' hand l.c. John Sloan was an important early 20th century artist, a member of "The Eight" and a founding member of the Ashcan School of realist painters. He is known for his urban genre scenes that capture the life and energy of his subjects and their surroundings.
