Edgar Chahine, Etching, "Nina," 1923
Edgar Chahine, French, 1874-1947, "Nina," A truly magnificent portrait by Edgar Chahine, titled "Nina." The image size of this etching is 12 5/8 x 8 5/8 inches, published in 1923, pencil signed by the artist, framed. Chahine studied at the Academia Di Belle Arti in Venice and then at the Academy Julien in Paris. He was a very well respected artist of the ‘Belle Epoch’ era, winning many awards and honors for his work, including a gold medal at the Paris Salon. However his prints and paintings are hard to find as many of them were destroyed in a fire at his studio in 1926 or in a later flood in 1942. In this richly inked portrait, Chahine uses delicate, expressive lines to create a strong sense of life and personality. This etching is in very good condition, printed on a cream colored paper and comes tastefully framed.
