Sir William Russell Flint, Etching, "Caprice" c. 1930
Sir William Russell Flint, Scottish, 1880-1969, "Caprice." A beautiful original etching in sepia tones by Scottish artist Sir William Russell Flint, this image measures 14 x 8 7/8 inches, created c. 1930. It lightly signed in ink and numbered 'LXXII'. Flint was a renowned artist and illustrator in early 20th century Britain. He was born in Scotland and studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Edinburgh, then at Heatherly's Art School in London. He was known for his fine prints and paintings, many portraying graceful female figures. He served as the president of the British Society of Painters in Watercolors for 20 years, and was knighted in 1947.
