Kathe Kollwitz, German, 1867-1945, "March of the Weavers". This is an evocative etching by Kathe Kollwitz, from her series "The Weaver's Revolt". Image size 8 x 11 3/8 inches, mid century restrike published by Von der Becke, blindstamp in the lower right margin, with the label from Ferdinand Roten Galleries. Kollwitz was a German Expressionist artist known for her dramatic images of the poor, especially women and children, and the stark realities of poverty and war. Her two most famous series are the 'Weaver's Revolt' and the 'Peasant War', both inspired by historical events.
