Anthony Van Dyck, European, 1599-1641, "Adrianus Stalbent". This is an original engraving by Paulus Pontius after the painting by Anthony Van Dyck. The image size is 9 5/8 x 6 3/4 inches, c. 1700s, inscribed "Ant. van Dyck pinxit" and "Paul. du pont sculpt" in the lower left margin, with the title and a phrase in Latin below the image, with the original Kennedy Gallery label. Stalbent was a Flemish landscape painter and friend of Anthony Van Dyck when this portrait was painted. This engraving is printed on a very early laid type paper with margins trimmed to approximately 1/4 inch outside of the plate mark, some foxing as is to be expected in a print of this age.
