Dating from the Edo Period, this is an early and excellent example of the work of Kinkozan III (Kobayashi Kihei). The plate/platter shows lovely raised gilt and diaper work surrounding many Lohan. The piece is signed by the artist and the potter, and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.

This Japanese mixed metal box is a heavy piece of high quality. The body of the box is made of iron and has been artfully inlaid with gold, silver, brass and copper. The top boasts keyed borders of inlaid gold and silver surrounding raised metal-work including birds amongst lotus shoots and pomegranate. This delightful Komai box is in good condition with general age wear and a small mark to the lid. The top panel features fine depictions of chrysanthemums and birds with foliage. The decoration shows both silver and gold gilding. The minor panels show iris decoration with other florals. It is signed with the Fuji mark on the base. The internal lining is in wonderful condition.

This little wooden netsuke is of some age showing a wonderful aged patina. Deep himotoshi are located on the base. This piece is in very good condition showing only general age wear.

This little Satsuma bowl is exquisite with the decoration matching many of the finest artists. Internally the decoration includes a fine floral border and two gilt diaper borders above a roundel of Geisha playing music. Externally, there are panels of Geisha sitting in rural settings interspersed with florals. This piece is in excellent condition with only very minor wear to the gilding. There are no chips, cracks or restoration.

This delightful Komai box is in good condition with general age wear. The top panel features an ornate temple under foliage. The decoration shows both silver and gold gilding. The minor panels also show shrines and temple out-buildings. It is signed with the Fuji mark on the base. The internal lining is a little tarnished.

This is a Chinese stone carving of a sage sitting in a reclined position showing a gourd-shaped drinking vessel behind. The carved seal is in good condition and shows engraved Chinese script on the base.

This carved ivory okimono is unsigned but of high quality. The carver has depicted three elephants atop one another with a little monkey perched on the very top looking a little perplexed. Mounted on an ivory base, this okimono is in good condition.

This wooden netsuke has been coated with a thick lacquer and shows the most wonderful patina. The finely detailed little pig is sitting munching on a corn cob. The netsuke, which is in good condition, is marked with a tiny engraved signature on the bottom.

These extraordinary Sumida Gawa vases have a red ground with leaf-shaped moulding wrapped around the surface. Thick earthy-coloured flambe glaze cascades down from the rims and over branch-like double handles. The decoration is made up of 6 individual characters on each vase in humorous situations, monkeys on one vase and people on the other...

This ivory netsuke is well carved, signed on the base, has a lovely honey colour and a warm aged patina. The himotoshi are deep and located at the back of the figure who is holding a mug of some type. This netsuke is in good condition with no damage.
