This piece of Sumida Gawa pottery is signed by Ryosai and shows a panel of monkeys cavorting around a Japanese lantern. The other side depicts a monkey screaming with delight. The glaze is a thick brown topped with creamy white around the rim. The vase is signed to the base and is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or restoration.
