This carving of a female abalone diver is a very early antler ivory netsuke. Miniature in size, this piece is a rare depiction of a naked abalone diver clutching an awabi shell to her chest and holding a hooked blade in her other hand. The woman's hair is tied at the back. This piece is in excellent condition with an aged patina. There are no chips, cracks or restoration.
