This is the finest silver and enamel chinese centerpiece bowl we have seen. Set on a ring foot with a fluted edge to the top. The enamel work is done in cloisonne enamel. All of the decoration is done with fine applied wirework with the spaces inbetween filled with a wonderful selection of colors. I will describe the bowl all around as each side has different decoration. First side has an applied prunis tree with many prunis blossoms on diferent stems coming out of the trunk. The colors on the trunk are green and brown with a few small areas of black, there is also some silver wire work going thru the trunk of the tree. Below the prunis tree is a spray of chrysanthemums with leaves, the colors are yellow green and blue. These colors are also shaded from darker to lighter. Second side has a very large display of chrysanthemums with branches and leaves. There is also 3 pieces of bamboo in between the flowers. Each chrysanthemum flower has a multitude of silver wire work with shaded colors filling each area. The colors are yellow, pink, blue, green and purple. Bowl is 10 1/2" across, height is 5 1/8", weight is a very heavy 39 troy ounces. 4 hallmarks on the bottom, 3 of the hallmarks are not readable and the 4th is very clear. Condition is excellent, I do not see any damage to enamel. Silver has a nice patina to it. The piece was packed in a fabric covered box. I do not think it was ever used just stored in the box.
