Well documented in L.J. Pristo’s book on Martele, this Centerpiece Bowl is a collector’s dream. Made in Providence, RI, the bowl is fully hallmarked on the underside of the base with the Gorham Martele mark, and .9584 fine indicative of the higher than 925 sterling standard of silver: and M/KL, for the Gorham code indicating that the piece was made in 1907. On page 390 of L.J. Pristo’s book, the bowl is listed as having been completed on June 20, 1907. This bowl is entirely hand made and chased, as are all Martele pieces. The centerpiece is decorated with numerous flowers and with stylized foliage. The underside of the base is engraved with the monogram “BG” in script and is dated Dec. 2, 1908.” This bowl is in excellent original condition and retains its original patina.
