6 German Gilt-Silver Crystal Candlesticks with Cherubs
Consigned Sotheby's

This is a fine set of 6 German Cut Crystal and Silver Gilt Mounted Cherub Candlesticks, made by J. D. Schleissner & Söhne, Hanau, Germany, and retailed by Buchholz & Zelt, New York, Circa 1900. The candlesticks are fully hallmarked adjacent to the Cherubs on the base with the Maker’s mark, Retailer’s mark, 800 silver standard mark, Germany, and numerous character marks. The Schleissner firm was founded in 1817 in Hanau, Germany. The firm was known in the late 19th Century for their antique Renaissance and Baroque style reproduction silver. They exhibited in the 1893 Chicago Worlds Columbian Exposition as well as the 1904 St. Louis International Exposition. This set is of extremely fine quality and is in Excellent Condition. The diamond cut hobnail crystal pattern equals the fine quality of the silver gilt figural mounts. Detachable Bobeches. Height: 12 Inches.
