| This magnificent set of eight dinner plates is Circa 1920 and is the Pompeiian pattern. Each plate has a beautiful solid gold applied plaque on either side portraying four cherubs. This design is after a plaque found in the ancient city of Pompeii under the volcanic ash that came from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Beneath each plaque is a swag of flowers and leaves and the entire rim is decorated with a wave like pattern. The rest of each plate is a high polished sleek design. They are 12 ½ in diameter and each one weighs 24 troy ounces for a total weight of 192 troy ounces for the eight. Galt & Bros. was started in 1802 by James Galt and the company is located in Washington D.C. Each plate is fully hallmarked with the Galt. & Bros. Symbol and Sterling. They also have the retailers mark, Brand-Chatillon Co. They are in pristine condition. | |||||||||||||||
