Japanese Silver Box Imperial Provenance
Rectangular box with cover. Cover has enameled purple and white flowers. On box underside is Japanese hallmark and engraved inscription: “Presented to W. Cameron Forbes by H.I.H. Prince Terahisa Manila, Feb. 15th 1910.” Forbes (1870-1959) was the governor-general of the Philippines from 1908 to 1913, and ambassador to Japan from 1930 to 1932. The donor was possibly Teruhisa Komatsu (1888-1970), a descendant of the collateral branch of the Japanese imperial family and vice-admiral in the Japanese navy. Fine craftsmanship and distinguished provenance. Dimensions: Height: 1 ½ in. Width: 5 in. Depth: 3 ½ in. Weight: 10.25 Troy Ounces. BG644
