Two silver plate servers. Made by Elkington in Birmingham, C 1868. 1) Small silver plate pastry server: A curved and tapering handle terminating in a flat triangular blade. The blade is engraved with symmetrical scrollwork and stylized flowers and foliage. The handle has engraved geometric ornament. Length: 7 ¾ in. 2) Silver plate fish slice: Straight handle terminating in flat ovoid blade. The blade has pierced foliate scrollwork and stylized flowers. The handle has engraved geometric ornament. Length: 13 in. Both design numbers were registered by Elkington in 1868. Both pieces have armorial symbol (bust of a knight in armor) on handle. Two fancy pieces exemplifying the best of Victorian industrial design. BJ760 |
