Sterling silver tea and coffee service in Francis I pattern. Made by Reed & Barton in 1950. This service comprises 1 kettle with hinged cover on stand, 1 coffeepot with hinged cover, 1 teapot with hinged cover, 1 creamer, 1 sugar with cover, 1 waste bowl, and 1 tray.
This classic Reed & Barton pattern is decorated with flowers, foliage, scrolls, trefoils, grape bunches, and cornucopias – a mix of Classical and natural motifs evocative of Renaissance France.
All vessels have dome foot, scalloped rim, and foliate scrolled handle. All covers are domed with fleur-de-lis finial. The kettle, coffeepot, and teapot have a scrolled vertical spout. The creamer has a lip spout. The coffeepot and creamer are baluster form. All other vessels are squat and curved. The creamer and waste bowl interiors are lightly gilt.
The tray is oval and has pierced kidney-shaped handles, scalloped rim, and unornamented well.
