|Consulat-era silver wine taster. Made in France, ca. 1800. Curved bowl with snake-form ring handle. Rim is engraved “J. Penau.” A terrific post-revolutionary piece. Convulsive and violent change was sweeping the country, but there was still concern about wine quality. Hallmarked. Excellent condition. Dimensions: Height: ¾ in. Width (with handle): 3 ¾ in. Diameter: 2 ¾ in. Weight: 1.2 troy ounces. BK127|
