Silver vase with shibayama ornament. Made in Japan, ca. 1890. Square body with waisted neck, scalloped rim, 2 scrolled handles, and scrolled bracket foot. Shibayama panels comprise stained ivory, mother of pearl, and coral applied to ivory ground. On front panel are flowers beneath a tree. On back panel is a bird perched on a blossoming branch. Vase sides, neck, and foot have scrollwork with polychrome enamel flowers and foliage. Fine Meiji craftsmanship. Japanese mark. Dimensions: Height: 7 ¼ in. Width: 3 ¼ in. Depth: 2 ¾ in.
