Edward VII sterling silver and tortoiseshell box. Made by William Comyns in London in 1906. Rectangular with concave sides, flared base, and 4 slipper feet. Swag applied to front. Cover is hinged and has inset tortoiseshell panel with Neoclassical silver ornament. Box interior lined with brown velvet. Box underside lined with leather and stamped with Mappin & Webb retail mark. Dimensions: Height: 3 ¼ in. Width: 9 ¾ in. Depth: 4 ¾ in. Weight (with tortoiseshell, velvet, and leather): 19 troy ounces. BH153 |
