German sterling silver equestrian figure, ca. 1900. An old military man sits astride a horse, reins in one hand, sword in the other. Gilt highlights include uniform braid, military plumage, and saddle. Possibly depicts Emperor Franz Joseph (1830-1916). Horse stands on grassy ground. Rectangular plinth with silver acanthus leaves and foliage, and cabochon cut stones. Hallmarked. Excellent condition. Dimensions: Height: 16 in. Width: 4 ¾ in. Depth: 9 ¼ in. Weight: 89 troy ounces.
