American clear glass water pitcher with silver overlay, ca. 1920. Ovoid body, short neck, lip spout, and scroll handle. Acid-etched ribbing and scalloping on body. Neck, spout, and part of handle encased in silver. On neck are two cartouches, each depicting a woman holding a jug, a man ringing a bell, and a second man beckoning. A table and clock are in background. A possible summons to refreshment. Unusual design with contrasting modern ornament and naïve-style frieze. Very good condition.
