Victorian English Birmingham Harlequin Sugar Tongs 1894

Pair of sterling silver sugar tongs in form of harlequin. Made by John Millward Banks in Birmingham in 1894. Harlequin, in traditional patchwork costume, grips two bow-tied rings (that is the handles), while his feet rest on foliate jaws. Witty. Hallmarked. Excellent condition with period patina.

Length: 4 inches. Weight: 1.4 troy ounces. BL193
