Pair of sterling silver figural salt and pepper shakers. Made in Germany and imported by Berthold Hermann Muller to London, England in 1912. The shakers are a peasant girl and boy. The girl wears a long dress and hat. The boy wears baggy trousers and hat. They are shod in wooden shoes. The girl looks defiant with arms folded. The boy lounges with hands in pockets. A realistic pair. No pastoral nostalgia here. Imported to England a few years before World War I. Hallmark includes import marks. Excellent condition with nice patina.

Dimensions: Girl: H 3 ½ x W 1 7/8 x D 1 1/3 in. Boy: H 3 ½ x W 1 1/3 x D 1 1/8 in. Total weight: 5.5 troy ounces. BI335
