George III sterling silver teapot. Made by Hester Bateman in London in 1786. Fluted and oval body with diagonal spout and capped-scroll handle in ebonized wood. Cover is raised and hinged with stained-wood finial. Engraved Neoclassical ornament and two cartouches (vacant). Hallmarked. Condition: Wear to handle ebony. Otherwise very good.
